RBEC stands for Recreational Boating Educational Conference - MBIA's Annual Conference, which provides a once-a-year opportunity to network with peers, get industry updates and receive quality educational instruction at an extremely affordable price.
RBEC is a member service as it is subsidized by the MBIA. It is a partner effort between the Michigan Boating Industries Association, the MI Sea Grant, the Michigan DNRE and the MI Harbormasters.

FAQ’s about RBEC
How is RBEC’s programming determined?
All partner groups have input into the RBEC program, making sure it offers information and education on subjects most relevant to your needs. RBEC’s programming is designed to help you and your staff meet the challenges and opportunities facing your business and our industry every day.
Will there be opportunity to network?
There are many opportunities throughout the conference to network. We believe networking and social interaction with your colleagues, partner groups and MBIA staff adds value to your time at RBEC.
Can we promote our products and services to your attendees?
Don’t miss an opportunity to meet more than 150 marine businessmen and women, and share with them information about your products and services. Display tables are available, as well as sponsorship opportunities. If you are interested in either, contact Nicki Polan at 734.261.0123 ext. 204.
Who should attend?
Boat Dealers, Marina Owners & Operators, State Harbor Masters, Sea Grant Agents, City Managers, Marine Retailers, Marine Manufacturers, MDNR & MDEQ Employees, Marine Suppliers, Legislators, anyone interested in Michigan’s marine industry.
What is the attire?
The entire conference is business casual. If you want to come in jeans and a flannel shirt, that’s fine. Some people like to dress up but it certainly isn’t mandatory. The only thing mandatory is that you get value from your time at RBEC.
Where do we stay?
We negotiate special discounted room rates at hotels and resorts where we hold RBEC.
Are there other fun things to do?
On-site and often times in the vicinity, there will be many added attractions which can make your educational experience a mini-vacation.
